Okay.
Here is my quiz.
Who are these [people] muppets*?
*It's not a trick question about Gay Muppet Marriage or How to Live a Long and Harmonious Life as a "Roommate". I want to know what you CALL this duo. As it is with most of my quizzes, it's a long-running stalemate of a domestic squabble. I have my theories and I will SHARE them on Monday (or Tuesday.)

You know, when I think about it, I realize I'm rather a switch hitter on B/E or E/B. NEVER would I switch it up with Laverne & Shirley, though.

Bertinernie.
But I think if you'd shown me a picture of them with Ernie on the left, I would have said Ernieinbert.

Bert & Ernie
(I suspect someone in your household is going to be bitter.)
La La La La Lemons!

when my 20 year old was a toddler, it sounded just like he was saying "Bert's horny". Good times.

Bertenernie.
Posted by: Julie | January 18, 2009 at 09:16 PM
Definitely Ernie and Bert. Most definitely.
Posted by: The Little Sister | January 18, 2009 at 08:21 PM
Bert and Ernie! And please don't call them Ernie and Bert. That's wrong. And backwards.
Posted by: Karly | January 18, 2009 at 07:17 PM
Bert and Ernie.
Posted by: MidLifeMama | January 18, 2009 at 11:32 AM
Burt and Ernie. Or Bert and Ernie. But the B(u or e)rt comes first.
Posted by: Gillian | January 18, 2009 at 08:56 AM
Bert and Ernie. Please do explain. I'll be up all night. You know, contracting without actually going into labor. Waiting for your response.

Bert and Ernie.
Posted by: mamatulip | January 18, 2009 at 12:25 AM
burtnernie (uh ... Bert and Ernie, but around here, it's like one word).
Poor Burt. So long suffering. So maligned!
Posted by: moo | January 18, 2009 at 12:08 AM
Bert and Ernie. I don't think I"m being influenced by the fact that l-r, that's how they're positioned.
Also, my Mom's dad was named Ernest, and my Dad's dad was named Herbert: My grampas were Bert and Ernie. For realz!
Posted by: mimi | January 17, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Well they are Bert and Ernie over here.
Posted by: J from Ireland | January 17, 2009 at 10:18 PM
This would be Mr. Burt and Mr. Ernie! AND for the record some 25 years ago my parents used Burt and Ernie as the main example when they were explaining "homosexuals" to me and my brother. I said mom what is GAY? and they told us what gay was - when a man loves another man or a woman loves another woman. We were still confused and so she said LIKE Burt and Ernie and we said "O so they love eachother and live togehter" and she said YUP! It was not until we were slightly older that Burt and Ernie were replaced with Aunt Lucy and Uncle Ed:)

Bert and Ernie.
Posted by: Lisa | January 17, 2009 at 07:53 PM
Bert & Ernie. And they are named after two roles from my favorite holiday movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" - Bert the cab driver and Ernie the policeman. (And I didn't look that up, so I hope I'm correct with that bit of trivia I've been sharing for years). If I'm wrong, enjoy a good laugh at my expense! :)

Ernie and Bert.
Occasionally, in a moment of stupidity, Bernie and Ert.
Posted by: Manic Mommy | January 17, 2009 at 03:42 PM
They've always been Bert n Ernie.
Posted by: Amanda | January 17, 2009 at 03:26 PM
Umm, aren't they Bert and Ernie? Am I missing something? Unless you ask my little guy, then they're Ert and Nee, and then he asks for Memo! MEMO! (otherwise known as Elmo).

Is this a trick question? Bret and Ernie all the way.
Posted by: Jenna | January 17, 2009 at 01:43 PM
Bert & Ernie. I know mostly because my dad's name is Bert so people would call my mom Ernie all the time.
Posted by: Amelia Sprout | January 17, 2009 at 01:42 PM
Bert and Ernie all the way!
Posted by: Amy Jo | January 17, 2009 at 01:42 PM
Bert and Ernie. Although after I said that with conviction I realized that Ernie and Bert sounds just as right. But I'm sticking with my first instinct. They are Bert n' Ernie.
Posted by: Carmen | January 17, 2009 at 01:24 PM
Bert and Ernie.

Yeah, no question, I'm afraid. Bert & Ernie.
Bert's brother Bart? He's a jerk.

Bert and Ernie, and I am dying to know what the domestic disagreement on this topic could possibly be!
Posted by: *m* | January 17, 2009 at 10:13 AM
I came up with my answer before I looked at your comments. I'm not married to my answer. But I'm going to say Ernie & Bert.
Posted by: Stimey | January 17, 2009 at 10:11 AM
They always have been and always will be Burt & Ernie. Nuff said.
Posted by: Alexis | January 17, 2009 at 09:52 AM
Bert & Ernie.
Posted by: erin | January 17, 2009 at 09:20 AM
Bert & Ernie....do they have other names? Or is this an order issue?
Posted by: Shannon | January 17, 2009 at 09:13 AM
It's so Bert & Ernie.
And not just because you cued it that way by putting up a photo of them in that order. Really. (Sorry, my experimental design training...)
