Fun(ish) Fact Friday!

* I am rereading the Harry Potter series AGAIN.  I know, I KNOW.  It makes me a supah-big [loser] dork but what can I say?  I don't know why I am drawn to reading it all for like, the [fourth] third time.  I should be reading new books.  Different books.  I really don't know WTH the issue is.  (I'm on number 6, though, in case you were wondering.) SEPTUMSPECTRA!  Or whatever.

*  I bought a GPS with some of the money that I've been saving to buy a camera.  Since I have the world's WORST sense of direction, I thought that a GPS would be just the thing for me.  *hem* I think that I might be the only person in the history of the world who CONTINUES to make wrong turns, even with a GPS. I think I just get kind of nervous and I jump the gun or I'm trying to see which way the freaky-looking arrow is going and I so I don't turn when I'm supposed to, and then I end up confusing the fucking thing and it has to give me fifty right-hand turns in a row, so that I can get back to where I was supposed to be. It also doesn't understand ramps.  And it says I have to make a 'slight left' on some roads, where, what it looks like I'm doing is actually 'just going straight.'  I like it though.  Especially the part where I can get back to where I'm supposed to be after I've made a wrong turn.

*  The Little Sister and her family have been [visiting the families] on a vacation for the last two WEEKS.  It feels like a MONTH since I've seen them.  They're coming home TODAY.  Whoopeee!

*  And, get this: The Little Sister is going to have anothah baybay!!  I've been keeping that secret from you all.  Clenching my teeth, trying to keep it in.  I'm going to be an Auntie again.  SO EXCITED!

*  I was at work watching live television as the second plane hit the twin towers on September 11th.  There had been some talk of an 'accident' with a plane and so we were in one of the day rooms, watching TV, staff and patients together, when it all unfolded.  So, while I was watching the live coverage of the attacks on that day, I was literally surrounded by patients who were psychotic and hallucinating, while they were watching the live coverage of the attacks.  It is in the top three most surreal experiences that I can ever remember having.

*  There have been several incidents in my life that have showcased some uncanny aim.  Like any other of my (non-existent) physical talents, it is EXTREMELY inconsistent and I could have NEVER done these things if I'd been TRYING to do them.  But once, I flipped a dime at a co-worker from about 5 feet away and it went end-over-end across the room and landed in his fucking shirt pocket. I'm not even kidding.  Ka-CHINK, right in there.  And another time, when I was in college, I tossed a grape across a room at this guy and it landed right in his glass of grain punch.  He was so surprised, he dropped his cup right on the ground. There are a few more but OMG, could this Fun Fact Friday be any more BORING?

*  When The Man was in high school, he used to get a ride with one of his friends.  His friend's mom would only make right hand turns.  No joke.  Only rights.  No lefts.  She was, it seemed, going around the world, to the right.

==============================================================================================

Two days left to vote.  It is, I think, too much to ask for this repeated over and over voting.  It seems odd to me, the voting one time a day thing.  Anyway.  At least I've got more than 5%!  Hooray.  And THANKS.  Here's me tossing a grape across the room atcha.  Hold onto your 'PURPLE FUCK YOU UP'!

I love my GPS for the very same reason as you. Except my problem isn't that I preempt it, it's that I give it attitude.
Like "I know I have to turn right there. I know it. Stop telling me already." And then I blow past the right and have to do the multi turn thing to get back where I was supposed to be. Heh.

(And even better is that instead of "I blow" up there I typed "I blog." I'm obsessed.)

Congrats to the Little Sister!

Crap...I had this whole witty comment typed out but it went "poof". grrrr....
So I will try and repeat it although I am never ever as funny on the second go around.
Congrats to you and The Little Sister! I have read HP about ummm 8 times and I spend the early portion of my driving life only making rights...so I get it.
I did however drive a car that didn't actually go left. A 1984 K car that was Spouses grandfathers. (This was yearrrs before we were married...obviously).
Ok...before I high jack your blog I will stop.

Congrats on auntie!

"When The Man was in high school, he used to get a ride with one of his friends. His friend's mom would only make right hand turns. No joke. Only rights. No lefts. She was, it seemed, going around the world, to the right."

Does she live in NJ? I live in the southern part of the state and didn't really start making left turns until about 6 months to a year after I got my license - but then again, I really didn't need to. To be honest...I'm still not totally comfortable (I'm 24).

You are going to totally win. Not partially, TOTALLY. And my feet are swollen.

Hooray you're kicking web voting ass!

And yes I agree with Keila - we super duper deserve a Manson story (unless you've been tricking us all the time and its a Hanson story).

And another hooray for being an Auntie! So exciting!

like UPS trucks. they also only make right turns ;)

Yay! Aunt high-five!

No shame in rereading HP. The next movie is coming out in a few months, right?

And hey, not to jinx it, but check out your poll stats now.

How weird, the other night I felt like pulling out a Harry Potter book to re-read it - and I went straight for #6! I must be channeling the New Girl!

Congratulations on next-nephew/niece!

Congrats on being an auntie again!
GPS thingies scare me. The husband has one.

I always get confused by our GPS thingy. I turn too early, and then it gets really mad.

Congrats to your sister!

I have re-read Harry Potter so many times it is ridiculous. I just re-read the 7th book for about the 4th time, and I still cried.

We just bought a GPS too, when we moved to a new city, and I suck at it. I make wrong turns all the time too! Why doesn't it say "Turn left onto Main Street" instead of "Turn left after 100 yards"? I can't figure out how many yards there are between me and the next turn!

I wonder if The Man's friend's mom is related to my own MIL. That dear lady actually used to make her kids feel guilty about wanting to go places that required left-hand turns across traffic. Sad thing is, it was because she was _afraid_ to make those turns.

I tried out a few cars with their nav system and could NOT for the life of me get it to work.

That being said, I think GPS's were made for you. :)

HOLY HELL for voting we all deserved a Manson story! For real.

BUT the AUNTIE story is awesome news!!! How great - sending a ton of healthy baby bump vibes their way..

BUT seriously the mass crowds need Manson Manson Manson

HUGS
K
