I don't have it in me to do a deep, reflective retrospective of 2007. It was, after all, a very deep and complicated year, deserving of a reflective retrospective. But because it was so deep and complicated, I don't have it in me. You know, to do the reflective retrospective. (It really is fun to say that over and over. Try it.)
Anyway.
Instead, I'm just going to [pretend I'm playing with my daughter while I blog] crouch down on my floor with my laptop, while my daughter scratches at its front and peeks over the top to wish you all a fantabulous 2008.
What are your goals or wishes for this upcoming year? (I don't make resolutions, really. Goals or wishes.)
I wish a lot of deep and complicated things but the best and easiest to type out while I'm [trying to fend off a tenacious, attention seeking infant] crouched down on the floor like this, is that you all get to experience something that makes your job a little easier and your mood a little lighter and your relationship a little stronger.
Such as the experience I had over the holidays when The Man, (who was on vacation and thus, spent a ton of time with us) said this:
'Um. Yeah. I have a totally new appreciation for you and what you do all day.'
And it's not like he didn't have an appreciation before, guys. He did. But it was so, I don't know, validating to hear it like that. Like all the deep and complicated are noticed by someone other than myself. And appreciated.
*sigh*
I wish a feeling like that for you.
For you all.
Happy 2008!

That's why I take a certain perverse pleasure at seeing Kyle get frustrated with the girls now and then. He's almost always so calm that it's validating to see that they can get to him too.
Happy 2008, my friend.

That is fantastic.
Now I must go pull my son down from the chair he has climbed upon.
And pack.
